On the morning of June 1, 2019, the Physical Education College successfully held a special report meeting on “Academic Paper Reading and Thinking” in the Multifunctional Conference Hall of Dongrong Conference Center on the Central Campus. Professor Huang Xiaochun, the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Guangzhou Sports University, the Executive Director of the Research Institute of Journal of National Sports College, the Vice Chairman of the Research Center of National Sports Teaching and Training, the Executive Director of the Guangdong Sociological Society, and a member of Expert Committee of the Guangdong Youth Campus Football, was invited to the report meeting as a guest speaker. Nearly 200 audience, including the leadership team of the Physical Education College, teachers, graduates and undergraduates attended the meeting, which was presided over by Professor Tong Qiang, Deputy Dean of the Physical Education College.
Qiu Peng, Dean of the Physical Education College, first extended his warm welcome to Professor Huang Xiaochun for his special report in the College and raised earnest expectations for the teachers and students of the college to jointly create an academic-friendly atmosphere in the college and enhance the level of scientific research. First was to carry out multidimensional academic exchange activities such as expert lectures, international and domestic academic conferences to create a positive academic environment for teachers and students, and encourage them to actively participate in those activities and transform the problems in work and study into scientific research projects; second, the college would fully motivate teachers and students to engage in scientific research through the establishment of academic teams, award scientific research, and carry out student debate competitions, so as to continuously improve the quantity and quality of scientific research in the college and encourage teachers and students to strengthen weak links, give full play to their strengths, dedicate themselves to learning and studying, and concentrate on research to further enhance the scientific research level of the college.
Professor Huang Xiaochun gave a wonderful report on the status quo of sports journals, the characteristics of sports academic research, the heated issues of sports research, the development trend of sports scientific research, the improvement of scientific research ability, and the skills and standards of academic writing. Professor Huang made a targeted analysis on the topic selection and argumentation, writing skills and methods, and issues that should be paid attention to, and he also answered the questions that teachers and students were interested in .
Finally, Vice Dean Professor Tong Qiang made a concluding speech. He pointed out that Journal of Guangzhou Sports University is an important sports academic journal in China. With a solid theoretical foundation, Professor Huang has worked hard for a long time, obtained fruitful results, and enjoyed authority in grasping the trend of sports research. The meeting has inspired insights on hot sports issues, targeted at the needs of teachers and students in our college, and responded to the call of our time to interpret intrinsic principles of scientific research and to maintain seriousness in academic studies. The report meeting has covered many contents, with a clear logic and the plainness of turning complexity into simpleness. It was an altruistic act for one to share years of academic research experience with everyone without reservation, that is, “read more, observe more, and write more”. The meeting will surely broaden the theoretical horizons for scientific research and improve the research quality of our college in the future.
